Headaches in women: The Contraceptive Pill

There are two types of contraceptive Pill. The combined Pill contains oestrogen and progesterone, whereas the so-called ‘mini-pill’ contains progesterone alone. The mini-pill avoids the problems and side-effects associated with oestrogen, but at the expense of a slightly lower level of protection against pregnancy, and much poorer monthly cycle control.
There are many different versions of the combined Pill, varying in dose and type of oestrogen, proportion of oestrogen to progesterone, and so on. The combination that suits one woman may not suit another, so if you find one brand of Pill gives side-effects, often all that you need is to change to a different brand.
There are many potential side-effects of the combined Pill. These can include bloating and abnormalities of menstrual bleeding.

Menopausal Headaches: Self-help

Exercise and a sensible diet particularly one that is rich in calcium will help stave off the effects of osteoporosis. Iron and B-complex vitamins can help offset the anaemia caused by flooding. Deep breathing techniques can help restore control, when you are suffering from mood swings, or other emotional symptoms of the menopause
Because of the slightly increased chance of getting breast cancer, the mammogram (a sort of breast X-ray) should be arranged on a regular basis.
Don’t hesitate to talk to a counsellor about the psychological symptoms of the menopause (anxiety, phobias, confusion, depression, poor memory, etc.). What you experience might be natural, but it is certainly not easy or pleasant. Storing up emotions, fears and depression will most certainly cause tension headaches.

Headaches related to the menstrual cycle: Headaches while menstruating

The period itself is a very stressful time in a woman’s monthly cycle, especially on the first day. There may be abdominal pain, and a general feeling of being under the weather. This feeling lends to exacerbate any pre-existing headaches; sometimes the general lowering of the body’s resistance means that ordinary headaches will occur more frequently at this time of the cycle. Migraines may occur more frequently in those who are susceptible

AFTER CANCER: MIND-BODY CONNECTION. NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

What Are Negative Thoughts?
Negative thoughts are thoughts about things not going well. “I’m going to have a recurrence.” “My energy is never going to get better.” Some people call them “dark thoughts.” When they are subconscious, you have them before you realize that you are having them. When they are conscious, you actively construct bad thoughts about your cancer, your situation, your health, your death. Negative thoughts are unpleasant. They make you feel depressed, anxious, afraid, or angry.

What If I Have Negative Thoughts?
Negative thoughts provide one of the ways that your subconscious works out problems or expresses sources of fear, anxiety, anger, or depression.
